Dappy isn’t afraid of firing a few bullets. His latest was aimed straight at Olly Murs for his Brits performance. He said: “Bloomin’ hell, Olly Murs needs to learn how to sing, boy. “He came off The X Factor so he should be able to sing and yet that was a horrific performance. You can’t do things like that.” Dappy added: “I don’t feel I deserve to be at The Brits yet. I need a year of hits, then I’ll be able to go. I’ve had a No1 but I need a couple more.

Comedian Frank Skinner has called Adele’s behaviour at this year’s Brit Awards “hypocritical”. She has since received apologies from both ITV and the Brit Awards, but Skinner told the Daily Star that Corden had done her “a favour” by interrupting her. He said: “I think James Corden did her a favour. With all that proud to be British stuff saying she was waving the flag for us I was not happy with it. I think she was a bit hypocritical”. Skinner went on to explain that he was angry that the Tottenham singer had chosen to swear using an “American gesture”, adding: “How can she say that she is proud to be British and then give a very American gesture by sticking one finger in the air? It should have been two fingers as that is how I fly the flag!”

It appears Adele wasn’t the only person upset by the Brit Award TV bosses last night. Chart newcomer Emeli Sandé didn’t even get the opportunity to make a speech after receiving the Critics’ Choice Award. The Scottish singer, who had a No.1 hit last year with Professor Green duet Read All About It, couldn’t give a public thank you. A source close to the singer told The Sun: ‘Emeli deserved her moment in the spotlight in front of her peers, the industry and her family. ‘She’d been looking forward to it for months and was really disappointed when her win was not properly recognised.’

Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher look to have finally buried the hatchet after years of feuding. The Britpop icons shared a hug and drank together after the Brits on Tuesday, putting to bed their previously acrimonious relationship. They were aboard the boat on the Thames record label EMI had hired for their post-ceremony bash. “It’s funny to think Blur were last here 17 years ago when we were big rivals,” Damon told the Evening Standard. “Isn’t it funny how we’ve both mellowed after all these years? We’ve buried the hatchet.”

One Direction have been forced to apologise for thanking the wrong radio station when picking up the gong for Best Single at The Brit Awards 2012 on Tuesday. Curly-haired heartthrob Harry Styles accidentally thanked Radio 1 instead of Capital FM – whose listeners had voted for them to win the accolade – in their speech when accepting their first Brit. Not taking the mistake lightly, The Sun claims that Capital FM responded by refusing to play any of their songs or mention 1D’s first Arena tour – with Harry and Co later issuing a statement, admitting they “forgot” to thank the station’s listeners.

Labrinth is adamant his brief camera-stealing moment was purely unintentional. The producer got in the way of Brits host James Corden while he was doing a live TV link. Labrinth said: “It was an accident. I was chilling out, walked through the room and suddenly I was on TV with James.”

Adele, who flipped the bird wins an apology after her best album acceptance speech is cut short at the Brit awards. Middle-fingergate has ended in victory for Adele, with ITV and the Brits apologising for cutting short her best album acceptance speech at last night’s awards. When an apologetic James Corden interrupted the singer so that Blur’s live performance could be fitted into the broadcast, which ended at 10pm, Adele showed the middle finger to the crowd, in a gesture she said was meant for “the suits, not the fans”. She added: “I’m sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.” Now ITV has released a statement, saying: “The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the programme was over-running and we had to move on. We would like to apologise to Adele for the interruption.” A Brit awards spokesperson said: “We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running. We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night’s biggest award. It tops off what’s been an incredible year for her.” Corden was clearly embarrassed by the incident, and said on ITV2’s post-Brits programme: “I just feel bad about having to cut Adele off. I really don’t understand quite why I was made to, but it’s not a very nice way to end … She’s the biggest star in the world. I don’t understand what happened but I’m upset about it. Blur played for 11 minutes and she didn’t get a chance to say thank you once.”

The Brit Awards 2012 Review
This year’s Brits started with an explosive performance (quite literally) from Coldplay who sang their hit Charlie Brown. Then the host, for a second year running, James Corden took to the stage with the introduction for the night’s entertainment. Next came a montage tribute to the great Whitney Houston who recently died. Next to perform was Florence & The Machine who sang her hit No Light No Light.

Kylie Minogue was introduced to the stage to hand out the award for Best British Female which was won by Adele said she looked like a drag-queen next to Kylie. Jessie J was next on stage with Jack Whitehall to reveal the winner for The Best International Male Solo Artist. The winner was Bruno Mars who said the award was almost taller than him. Next James had his piece to camera interrupted as what appeared to be a lost security guard wandered in front of James and the camera. Olly Murs was next on stage and performed Heart Skips A Beat with Rizzle Kicks. Then The Critic’s Choice award was looked at and as we already knew the winner this year is Emeli Sande. Ed Sheeran was next on stage and sang Lego House.

The next award was for Best British Single and was handed out by Tinie Tempah. The winner was One Direction with their song What Makes You Beautiful. The next award was for Best International Female Solo Artist and was presented by Jenson Button. The winner of the award was Rihanna, for a second year running.  Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds then performed AKA What A Life.

Next we had a tribute to Amy Winehouse who passed away last July. The next award was for Best British Solo Male and Plan B presented the award. The winner was Ed Sheeran who said he honestly didn’t think he would get the award. Next Huey Morgan and Jo Wiley took to the stage to reveal the winner of Best British Group which was won by Coldplay. It is the third time the band has won this award over the years. Adele performed on stage and sang her hit Rolling In The Deep.

The next award was for Best International Group and was handed out by Brian May and Roger Taylor from Queen. The winner was The Foo Fighters who sent a video message as they were not able to attend. Next Nicole Scherzinger and Seb Fabregas presented the award for the Best British Breakthrough Artist which was won by Ed Sheeran, collecting his second award of the night. The next performance was Bruno Mars performing Just The Way You Are.

Rob Brydon and Will.I.Am were next on stage to present the award for Best International Breakthrough Act which was won by Lana Del Ray who said “the award means more to me than you know”. Next to the stage was Rihanna who performed We Found Love. Next the winners of The Outstanding Contribution To Music Award was presented to Blur by Ray Winston. Lead singer Damon Albarn said it was nice to be back for the honour before making a VERY long list of thank yous.

In the final part of this year’s Brits, George Michael presented the big award and was greeted with a rapturous applause.  The British Album Of The Year Award was won by Adele with her album called 21. The album has not left the album chart top 10 since January 2011. A very emotional Adele said she was so proud to be British before she was interupted by James to make time for the final act. Then, to end the show, Blur performed a selection of their hits.

Florence Welch, from Florence & The Machine, has threatened to do star jumps during Brit Awards set. The singer, 25, who is performing this evening at the Brit Awards, says: “Because it’s live TV, I always get those weird impulses like when you are standing too close to the edge of the Tube platform. “Having that sort of power, like, ‘I could do something really weird on live telly’. But I never do,” she told Fearne Cotton on Radio 1.

Coldplay have been causing a nightmare for health and safety officers ahead of the Brits, and it’s nothing to do with dangerous amounts of muesli on the rider. Chris Martin’s band have ordered so many pyrotechnics for their opening set that officials were worried it would blow the O2’s roof off. A source said: “It has been a logistical nightmare and for a long time organisers didn’t think they’d be able to go ahead with the plans. “People have been running around the arena with clipboards for weeks trying to sort it out.”

James Corden’s Brit Awards injury jinx continues with the host battling an agonising knee injury before his big night.
The comic actor is waiting to undergo surgery on damaged cartilage in his right knee, which has made his rehearsals for tomorrow night’s show a painful slog. Before hosting last year’s bash, he suffered a scratched cornea which left him with blurred vision as he took to the stage. But James has vowed to battle through the pain tomorrow with the help of some heavy-duty cortisone injections.

The Brit Awards 2012 will reportedly pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston tomorrow. According to The Metro, event organisers have managed to adjust timings at the ceremony in order to pay homage to both Winehouse and Houston, who both sadly passed away over the last year. A source told the newspaper: “Whitney and Amy are two of the biggest female stars in the history of music. Both have made their mark on stage at the Brits in the past.” The insider added: “Something would feel missing if both their legacies weren’t remembered at the show.”

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Noel Gallagher will apparently team up for a performance at this month’s Brit Awards. Martin is expected to accompany Gallagher on stage during his performance slot at the ceremony. Brit Awards host James Corden let slip of the collaboration during an interview on BBC Radio 2. Labrinth was unaware of the request as he was queuing to use the toilets. He has now revealed that his manger has warned him about this happening again.

Wretch 32 has revealed that he was “angry” at being snubbed by this year’s Brit Awards. The rapper told the Daily Star that he had been unhappy at not picking up any nominations for this year’s ceremony, which takes place on February 21, and said it would have been “huge” to have been in the running for the awards. He went on to add: “It’s sad not to be nominated, but if you’re not in the running when everybody knows you should have been, then that’s cool. When you get massive love from supporters, none of the other stuff matters. “It may look like someone’s had overnight success, but that’s never the case. People don’t realise how hard it is to get here.”

Sir Peter, who is best known for designing The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band cover in 1967, told the BBC that his initial design was rejected, adding: “I did something and they said: ‘Could you make it a bit more pop art?’ So it’s pop arted up.

James Corden will return as host of the Brit Awards in 2012 – as another shake-up of the voting academy gives artists the biggest say in who is nominated and wins for the first time. Corden, who fronted the 2011 event, will oversee proceedings at the 2012 ceremony, which is newly announced to take place on February 21 at London’s O2 arena. It will be the second year in a row the prestigious event will be held at the North Greenwich venue. Some new additions to the 2011 show are to carry on for next year, including inviting a celebrated guest to design the Brits trophy. For this past year the job went to fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, while 2012’s trophies will come with a design by Sir Peter Blake, whose most famous work was the cover of The Beatles’ album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Another change to the 2011 event was for the first time including artists to be part of the voting academy whose diverse membership already took in individuals from across the UK music industry, including from record companies, music publishers, retail and media. All the 2011 winners and nominees have been invited to join the 2012 panel, which will make artists the biggest single voting group for the first time. Next year’s event will have to follow a 2011 ceremony which had a notable positive impact on record buyer – even though TV viewing figures fell to their lowest level since 2006 with an average of 4.8 million people tuning in on the night to the live ITV1 broadcast.
