2015 X Factor News

The X Factor runners-up Reggie N Bollie have signed a record deal with Simon Cowell’s label. Syco confirmed the news on Twitter and said the pair will be releasing an album later this year. “We’re so happy to share the good news with you,” Reggie said. Bollie added: “We’re going to put in the hard work and bring you wicked songs and wicked entertainment.” Reggie N Bollie finished second on The X Factor in 2015 behind 17-year-old Louisa Johnson from Essex. The pair’s fun and lively performances won over viewers of the ITV competition.

Louisa Johnson has recorded the lowest chart entry for an X Factor winner’s first single, making her debut in this week’s UK singles chart at number nine. Every other winner of the ITV talent search, bar two, has hit the top spot in their single’s first week on sale. Johnson’s single Forever Young is at a comparative disadvantage, however, as only four days of the chart week count towards her song’s chart position. This follows the shift of the singles and album chart from Sunday to Friday. Weekly chart positions are determined by sales from Friday through to midnight on Thursday, and Forever Young did not go on sale until Sunday night. Only Steve Brookstein and Joe McElderry previously failed to claim the top spot with their winners’ singles in their first week.

LOUISA WINS THE X FACTOR 2015
This year’s grand final started with all of this years finalists reuniting to sing Down Town. Then Coldplay took to the stage to perform their latest single. Next the final two contestants had to sing their songs of the series, this is where they repeated their favourite performance from earlier in the series. Reggie’N’Bollie chose their mash-up up of You Don’t Know Your Beautiful and Cheerleader while Louisa chose to sing It’s A Man’s World. Next up, former contestants, One Direction performed two songs in an emotional send-off before their year long break. Then the finalists had to separately perform this year’s winners single which is Forever Young. As the phone lines closed Adele took to the stage to perform. Finally the winner was crowned and the triumphant winner this year was a very emotional Louisa. Her winners single will be released on Monday with the proceeds going to Together For Short Lives and Shooting Star Chase. The government has also agreed to waive the tax on the single.

The Final 2015
The X Factor Final took place and the SSE Arena in Wembley. The final started with big entrances from the judges and then the three contestants. Che, Louisa and Reggie’N’Bollie all entered the arena in a similar style to Boxers arriving for a fight. Hosts Olly and Caroline then opened the lines straight away for all three contestants and said the act with the fewest votes would leave tonight. All acts then sang one song each and were critiqued by the judges. Most judge comments were positive at this stage although Simon did tell Che he looks like the underdog. Last year’s winner Ben Haenow then took to the stage to sing a duet with the 2006 winner Leona Lewis. Then it was time for the famous duets stage of the final where Che was joined by Rod Stewart, Reggie’N’Bollie were joined by Craig David and Fuse ODG and Louisa sang with her mentor Rita Ora. Then while the votes were counted last year’s runner up Fleur East sang with the 2001 winners Little Mix. Then there was another performance from Rod Stewart. Finally we found out which act had to leave tonight, and the act with the fewest votes was Che so it’s Louisa and Reggie’N’Bollie for the conclusion of the final on Sunday.

Olly Murs admits he prepared himself for criticism when he took over as host of the X Factor. Speaking to Newsbeat ahead of this year’s final, the former contestant said: “It was a big change to lose someone like Dermot who was the host for a long time. “We were always going to get people saying they didn’t like us.” Olly and co-host Caroline Flack have faced social media abuse from viewers during this year’s live shows. He added: “Whoever would’ve been hosting the show this year, it would’ve been the same. We’ve just tried to be ourselves and have fun. “It took us a couple of weeks to find our feet and find where we were going to stand and what we were going to do.”

Adele has been confirmed as a performer for this Sunday’s X Factor final at Wembley arena. In a statement X Factor bosses said they were “delighted” and that she will be performing her number one single Hello. One Direction and Coldplay will also perform on Sunday night’s show. Ben Haenow and Leona Lewis as well as Little Mix and Fleur East are set to perform duets for Saturday’s show. The three finalists for this year’s show, Che Chesterman, Louisa Johnson and Reggie n’ Bollie, will also perform duets but they won’t be revealed until Saturday’s show is on air.

Semi-Final – Results
The semi-final results show started with the four finalists all singing Happy. There were guest performances this week from Jason Derulo and Sia. Then it was time for the results and in the bottom two were Lauren and Che. After the sing-off the judges had to choose who to send home and who to send to the final. Nick chose to save his act and sent home Lauren and Rita chose to save her act and sent home Che. Cheryl chose to send home Lauren and Simon decided to let the public decide by sending home Che. So it went to Dead-Lock and back to the public vote and the act with the least votes this week was Lauren. The acts in this years final will be Che, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie and Louisa. The final will take place at the SSE Arena in Wembley.
POSTED: 06/12/15

Semi-Final
For this weeks semi-final the finalists have been mentored by Lionel Richie who was also present in the studio for the live show. Each contestant had to sing two songs each again, songs that they felt would help them get to next week’s final. Louisa and Che had a great night as did Lauren. Reggie N Bollie sang a slower song for their first track, which didn’t impress Simon, however they were back to their best on their second song. Who will make it through to next weeks final at the SSE Arena in Wembley? One more act will go home on Sunday’s show where there will also be guest performances from Jason Derulo and Sia.

The X Factor’s Louisa Johnson struggled through her performance on Saturday night’s show after being struck down with a mystery bug, but has she passed it on to fellow contestant Lauren Murray and host Olly Murs? Apparently the 17-year-old was put into isolation after Lauren and Olly complained of flu symptoms and the contestants have since been told to stay in separate rooms at the X Factor house as a precaution. Meanwhile 4th Impact singer Celina is reportedly ‘ok’ after collapsing shortly when the girl band found out they’d been axed from the show.

Live Show Five – Results
This week’s results show saw the remaining finalists sing Earth Song together. Then there were guest performances from Carrie Underwood and judge Rita Ora who teamed up with Sigma. Then it was results time and the bottom two this week were Lauren and 4th Impact. After the sing-off it was over to the judges to see who they wanted to send home. Rita chose to save her act and send home 4th Impact and Cheryl saved her act and sent home Lauren. Nick chose to send home 4th Impact and Simon chose to send home Lauren so it went to Dead-Lock. So it was back to the viewers vote and the act with the least votes was 4th Impact and they have left the competition.

Live Show Five
The theme of this weeks show was X Factor Jukebox where the acts had to sing two songs each. The public decided each acts first song and the judges had chosen their acts second songs. As Simon no longer has any acts in the competition he had to enter the studio alone as the song ‘All By Myself’ was played for comic effect. Stand out performances this week came courtesy of Lauren and 4th Impact. Che seemed to struggle this week, after his confidence was knocked after being in the bottom two last week, and he forgot the words to his first song. He did turn things around with his second song, as did Louisa who also seemed to struggle with her first song. Reggie N Bollie sounded out of tune on both of their songs this week but the audience didn’t seem to care as the duo had the biggest audience reaction. The results will be revealed tomorrow where there will be guest performances from Carrie Underwood and judge Rita Ora.

Viewers are questioning if the X Factor is fixed, after Twitter users claim to have heard Simon Cowell telling the judges to ‘save Che Chesterman’ instead of his own act on Sunday. Nick Grimshaw’s act Che was up against Anton Stephans in the sing-off, with the pair hugging before awaiting their fate. However viewers now claim they heard Simon saying “Che, Che” to the rest of the panel before they cast their vote – appearing to wish his own act off the show.

Live Show Four – Results
This week’s results show was opened with all of the finalists singing We Found Love. Then there were guest performances from Nathan Sykes and, show host, Olly Murs. Then it was announced who the bottom two were and it was Anton and very surprisingly Che. After the sing-off it was over to the judges to decide who to send home. Nick saved his own act and sent home Anton and Simon saved his act and sent home Che. Both Rita and Cheryl chose to send home Anton so Che is safe and Simon has now lost all his acts for this year.
POSTED: 22/11/15

Live Show Four
The theme this week was Love And Heartbreak and it was revealed at the start of the show that its another double elimination this weekend and one contestant would leave tonight. After his gaff last week, Olly joked that the public shouldn’t worry as he won’t be announcing who is going tonight. Stand out performances this week were Che, Louisa, Lauren and 4th Impact. Anton snapped at, judge, Nick after he said he didn’t feel the performance was ‘real’, Anton later apologised for being disrespectful. Mason Noise came under some criticism for nerves and Reggie N Bollie gave another up-tempo performance, although the song didn’t seem to fit the theme of tonight’s show at all. Then the phone lines were open for a short time and the act with the least votes would leave tonight. While the votes came in Ed Sheeran and Rudimental performed together with what seemed like far to much confetti which let to the judges having a massive confetti fight. It was then time for the results of the flash vote and the act with the least votes and leaving the competition was Mason Noise.

Olly Murs has apologised to X Factor fans after he mistakenly told Monica Michael she was leaving the show before the official announcement. The judges said they couldn’t decide between Anton Stephans and Monica after their sing-off, so it went to deadlock. But Olly miscounted their votes and announced the decision, thinking that three judges were sending Monica home. “Sorry I do apologise, sorry Monica, that’s my fault,” he told the audience and contestants during Sunday’s show. After the sing-off it was revealed that Monica had finished in the bottom two and she was voted off the show by the public. But his mistake led some to accuse the show of being a fix. The host tweeted he was “still learning and hope that never happens again”.

Live Show Three – Results
The show started with the news that it is once again another double elimination. Then the finalists sang What A Feeling. Next Simon Cowell revealed that all contestants that remain in the competition after this weekend will also all feature on next years X Factor tour. Tonight’s guest performers were Jess Glynne and One Direction. In the bottom three this week was Anton, Monica and Max. The act with the fewest public votes had to go home straight away and that act was Max. Anton and Monica then took part in the sing-off before the judges had to choose who to send home. Nick chose Monica and Rita chose to save her act and send home Anton. Cheryl chose Anton and Simon chose to save his act and picked Monica. For a second week it went to Dead-Lock although Olly got confused and told Monica she was going home before swiftly being corrected by Caroline who confirmed it has gone to Dead-Lock, to which Olly apologised for his mistake. So the act with the least public votes had to go home and that act was Monica.
POSTED: 15/11/15

Live Show Three
The theme of this weeks show was Movie Night where the acts had to sing songs that were famously featured in a movie soundtrack. At the start of the show we were told that due to the Paris terrorist attacks Lauren and Monica will be singing different songs than previously planned. Stand out performances this week came courtesy of Louisa, Monica, Che and 4th Impact who put on a feisty dance routine despite the fact that Selena had earlier passed out and went to hospital. She still performed on the show but had to be brought a chair and some water, for the judge’s comments, after feeling dizzy again. Anton had a better night than last week and once again Reggie N Bollie lightened the mood with a cover of Who Let The Dogs Out. As ever, the results will be revealed on Sundays show with Jess Glynne and One Direction performing.

Live Show Two – Results
This week’s results show started with all of the remaining acts singing Fix You. Then there were guest performances from, last year’s runner up, Fleur East and CeeLo Green. Then it was time for the results and once again it was another double elimination. The acts in the bottom three were Kiera, Mason and Seann. The act with the least votes had to go home straight way and that was Kiera. The other two acts then had to have a sing-off and it was over to the judges to decide who to send home. Simon and Cheryl both chose to send home Mason. Rita chose to send Seann home so it was over to Nick to decide which one of his two acts should go. Nick couldn’t choose so purposely send it to Dead-Lock by sending Seann home. In a Dead-Lock situation the act with the least public votes has to go home and that act was Seann.
POSTED: 08/11/15

Live Show Two
The theme of this weeks show was Re-Invention week where the acts had to take a classic song and give it a twist. It appeared the presenters, Olly and Caroline were kept apart this week, after criticism on previous shows, and rarely appeared on stage together. Stand out performances this week came from Lauren, Louisa, Che, Max and surprisingly Reggie N Bollie who were extremely well received with their mash-up of two songs. Kiera didn’t do so well this week and neither did Monica as Simon said he “hated” her performance. She was criticised by several of the judges for moving to far away from what everyone expects of her. Seann put on a great performance but Simon said he hadn’t re-invented the song and he should have a word with his mentor Nick. Nick insisted the song had been re-invented by Seann. The results will be revealed in Sundays show.

Live Show One – Results
The first results show started with the revelation that tonight would see a double elimination. All of the contestants then opened the show singing the One Direction song Perfect. Then there were guest performances from Little Mix, who sang a medley of their hits and Ellie Goulding performed her latest single. Then it was time for the results and the bottom three were Alien Uncovered, Bupsi and Kiera Weathers. The act with the fewest votes had to go home straight away and that was Bupsi. Alien Uncovered and Keira then had to take part in the sing-off then it was over to the judges to decide who they want to send home. Cheryl chose to save her act Alien Uncovered and Rita also chose to save her act Kiera. Nick chose to send home Alien Uncovered as did Simon so they have left the competition.

The X Factor scared off more than a few viewers this Halloween after Strictly Come Dancing ‘s special trounced the singing competition. Strictly pulled out all the stops as dancers and professionals decked out in spooky make-up helped pull in an extra 4 million viewers. Trailing considerably behind was the X Factor with just 5.6million watching compared to the BBC dancing competition’s 9.4million average. Always one to wade in on X Factor failure, Steve Brookstein even tweeted a poll asking his followers whether the show was “finished”. After winning the first series the singer is taking glee in the falling figures. “X Factor ratings have hit a new low. Is it finished? Yes or No,” he tweeted earlier today.

Live Show One
The live shows finally started tonight nearly a month later than last year. As it was the first live show, the traditional Halloween theme show didn’t happen this year. The live shows have seen another series U-turn with the return of Peter Dickson as the voice-over man, it was previously reported that he wouldn’t be returning this year. It was also officially revealed that Rita will have one more act than the other judges with the return of Monica Michael, she initially didn’t make it through the judges houses stage of the show. The theme of the first show was ‘This Is Me’ where the contestants got the chance to show their voices and musical style and taste. All of the contestants did well tonight and the hosts Olly and Caroline seemed to work better together, after much criticism after last weekends live judge’s houses episodes. The show seemed to lack any disputes amongst the judges and Simon seemed uncharacteristically nice to all of the contestants, surely that wont last. After the vote lines opened last years winner, Ben Haenow took to the stage to perform his new single. The first results show will take place on Sunday evening with guest performances from Little Mix and Ellie Goulding.

Monica Michael is back on The X Factor. She’s been given a wildcard lifeline after failing to get through to the live shows. She’ll now re-join the girls’ category mentored by Rita Ora. The decision to bring her back was agreed with fellow judges, Simon Cowell, Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. It’s yet another chance for Monica, after she failed to get past the Six Chair Challenge on last year’s show. Monica’s X Factor dream looked to be over for another year after last Sunday’s show. Looking for a place in the live finals, Rita instead chose Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray and Keira Weathers. But apparently Rita couldn’t get Monica off her mind. “I couldn’t sleep on Sunday night thinking about Monica and if I could convince the other judges of giving her a wildcard,” she told The X Factor website. “It’s so great that Simon, Cheryl and Grimmy agreed. What a rollercoaster for Monica, but sooo glad to have her back. So exciting.”

Tom Jones, Dolly Parton and Rod Stewart were all said to be in talks to appear, however The X Factor has now reportedly scrapped plans to feature a fifth judge. The ITV show is said to be in chaos after being forced to make a U-turn at the last minute, ahead of the first live show at the weekend. It is claimed that a lack of planning is the reason a fifth judge won’t feature on the panel alongside Simon Cowell, Nick Grimshaw, Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. “Another idea has been tossed on the scrapheap pile because it wasn’t planned well enough,” a source has said.

Caroline Flack and Olly Murs made their live X Factor debut last night, but things didn’t exactly go to plan. The double act have been slated by judges’ houses viewers, with some even calling for the return of Dermot O’Leary. Judges’ houses aired last night for a whopping two and a half hours – that’s longer than Citizen Kane, folks – as Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini picked their final three acts live on stage. But the new format plus roughly a thousand people standing on stage caused a whole lot of issues for Flackers and Murs. The duo constantly talked over each other or repeated what the other had just said. And at one particularly awkward point, Caroline attempted to interview axed act Jennifer while Olly was shooing the singers off stage. One viewer tweeted: “Ok, so Caroline/Olly need to rehearse their duo presenting thingy. Constant talking over each other is not a good look.” Another wrote: “Judges houses is an absolute shambles, Olly and Caroline constantly talking over each other. Go back to the old way!” Several X Factor fans noted that they liked Olly and Caroline, but that the show didn’t suit a double act format.

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack are under fire from viewers after a lacklustre start to their new jobs as X Factor presenters. The pair have struggled to re-create the on-screen chemistry which made them a hit on sister show The Xtra Factor from 2011 to 2013. The show’s fans have slated their performance and even called for the return of Dermot O’Leary. One factor is Caroline’s absence from some weekend editions due to her commitments with rival BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. When she didn’t appear last Sunday, viewers began to question whether she is still involved in the series. And source close to the show said: “Bosses have been aware of the criticism aimed at Olly and Caroline over their lack of chemistry. They were expected to inject some fun and energy but that has yet to be seen. “We’ve seen this year’s line-up undertake a big shake-up and Olly and Caroline were considered to be a safe bet. “But the viewers haven’t seen any of what made them such a special pairing on Xtra Factor yet.”

Mason Noise will replace X Factor contestant Tom Bleasby after he pulled out of the competition. Nick Grimshaw announced he was bringing back Mason despite the fact he was kicked off the show for bad behaviour. The 21-year-old from Birmingham dropped his microphone and walked off stage after complaining about not getting enough screen time. He also argued with Simon Cowell before Grimmy revealed he had wanted to give him one of his six chairs. Earlier this week Bleasby had chosen to withdraw “due to personal reasons”. He told ITV “I just don’t know if I felt vocally ready to take on the competition and the pressure.”

Simon Cowell has changed his plans AGAIN regarding that all-important fifth judge. He’s eyeing up ‘iconic’ faces as the fifth judge with the intention of drawing in the older crowd. There will be a different one each week, with Louis Walsh potentially being the stand in should one of the big names not make it. There was word that Louis would act as a sixth judge, but that would be too ridiculous, even for Simon Cowell. Rod Stewart, Dolly Parton, Cher and Bryan Adams are all said to be in talks to be guest fifth judges. Paul McCartney is also being considered, as is Tom Jones. A source told The Mirror: ‘There have been some discussions about introducing a fifth guest judge on the panel for the live shows to keep the format fresh. ‘The idea would be to have a music legend to join Simon, Cheryl, Rita and Nick as an impartial judge each week. We’re still exploring how this could work so nothing is set in stone. ‘A fifth judge means we have a majority decision for anything that happens, it would mean an end to deadlock too in sings offs, which some viewers see as a cop out.’ Simon is said to want to appeal to the Tom Jones fans in the audience by potentially bringing in the former The Voice judge. Another source said: ‘Tom Jones was a big hit with older viewers on The Voice so it is that kind of theory.

The guests for the judges’ houses stage of this year’s series of the X Factor have been confirmed. Louis Tomlinson will be returning to the talent show to help Simon Cowell choose which singers from the “overs” category will make the live shows. Nick Grimshaw will be joined by Mark Ronson – in Manchester – and Rita Ora has been paired with Meghan Trainor. Jess Glynne completes the line-up. She’ll help Cheryl Fernandez-Versini decide which of the groups go through. The judges houses part of the show won’t be live as previosuly planned but the contestants will have to wait for a big live show filmed back in London where the judges will announce the finalists in front of their friends and family.

X Factor fans were not too pleased that Nick Grimshaw didn’t appear on the final two segments of last night’s show. And we’re hearing whispers that Louis Walsh is set to make a comeback on the ITV show. So that begs the question, is Nick Grimshaw safe as an X Factor? Well, if show bosses listen to some angry fans on Twitter after last night’s show then it might not be a rosy future for the Radio 1 DJ on the talent show. What’s more, Nick has someone waiting in the wings to take his place. Just days ago former X Factor judge Louis hinted that Simon Cowell should axe Grimmy and replace the radio presenter with him! Speaking on Celebrity Juice, he said: “I could be free … who is he going to get rid of. Everyone is contracted. Grimmy?” And now today we’ve heard Louis is so desperate to return to The X Factor that he’s turned down a huge £500,000 offer to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Louis Walsh will reportedly be returning to The X Factor live shows as a “fifth judge” in a bid to boost ratings. The music manager, who spent 10 years as a judge on the ITV talent show, is in talks with good friend Simon Cowell despite getting the boot shortly before the series kicked off. It’s thought Louis, who was replaced by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, will be sitting in an area away from the other judges as he provides commentary on the acts. “He will be a neutral fifth judge who will sit in a special place away from the other judges to provide his own unbiased comments on the contestants,” a source told The Sun.

The X Factor has ditched plans to broadcast the judges’ houses live. Bosses wanted the auditions, which are normally pre-recorded at luxury locations abroad, to be shown in real-time this year. But for “logistical and technical reasons” that’s not going to happen. Instead, the judges’ houses will be filmed beforehand but contestants won’t hear who’s through straight away. Instead, the singers will have to wait for a big live show filmed back in London where the judges will announce the finalists in front of their friends and family. This potentially cuts down the amount of sobbing time on expensively cushioned sofas while Sinitta looks on. However cutting the live element of the judges houses is a bit of U-turn for the show’s producers who have been promising a shake-up of the traditional X Factor format this year. They are partly blaming it on the weather.

The X Factor has announced the judges’ categories after a public vote and Simon Cowell is not happy. The ITV show, which kicked off with it’s first round of auditions last weekend, confirmed that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will mentor the groups for the first time, with Rita Ora the Girls and Nick Grimshaw the Boys. Simon, who will be mentoring the overs, had been campaigning for the Girls category and admitted on Twitter he wasn’t expecting the result. Nick and Cheryl were both campaigning for the Girls as well, but looks like Rita Ora has pipped them to that category.

ITV’s director Peter Fincham has accused the BBC of playing a “game” whereby it deliberately schedules Strictly Come Dancing against The X Factor. In recent years, Strictly Come Dancing has overtaken The X Factor in the ratings, and when the two shows overlap on Saturday night, the ITV show’s viewing figures tend to take a hit. The X Factor returns to ITV this Saturday with a new panel featuring Rita Ora and BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw, and when the new series of Strictly Come Dancing begins the following Saturday (September 5), the two shows will overlap by 20 minutes.

It’s chaos at X Factor central as more auditions have been cancelled just days after the Manchester auditions were axed. An X Factor spokesperson told the Metro.co.uk: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to cancel Tuesday 14th July’s X Factor auditions in London.” The news comes after the devestating loss of Simon Cowell’s beloved mother Julie Brett, who passed away at 89-years-old on Sunday. The first round of auditions were supposed to get underway the following day but were instead postponed until Wednesday. Remarkably, a courageous Simon returned to his seat on the revamped panel alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw on Wednesday where he dedicated the series to his dear mum. After receiving a standing ovation form the 5,000 strong crowd, he said: “You all know I had something happen in my personal life this week. Well this was my mum’s favourite show so I am doing it in memory of her.” Fellow judge Rita Ora was forced to miss yesterday’s auditions due to prior commitment at Paris Fashion Week.

Simon Cowell must be pretty confident in his new X Factor line-up. The 52-year-old music mogul has splashed out a whopping £8million on this year’s judging panel. According to The Sun, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is pocketing an impressive £1.8million pay cheque while newbie Nick Grimshaw will be raking in £1million and Simon has reportedly decided to allocate £4.2 million to himself. The Mirror reports that Rita will be raking in £1.5million for her position on the panel. Unbelievably, despite the hefty payouts, the judges will actually be doing less than work than ever before seen in the hit ITV show. While in previous series, the judges travelled to four cities across the UK to hold arena auditions, this year, they will just be stopping off in two, London and Manchester. There will also be just seven live shows as opposed to ten, and the room auditions have also been scraped. It’s believed the new changes have been brought in by Simon to fit around Rita’s schedule.

Pop star Rita Ora fills the fourth chair, jumping ship from BBC One’s The Voice after just one series. Cowell said “The best-kept secret in TV is out!! But I am really happy with the new judging line-up for X Factor this year. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Simon Cowell has ordered a major shakeup of the X Factor format. The show’s popular judges’ houses section will now be broadcast live from four different worldwide locations – at a huge increase to production costs. Last year, judges filmed as far afield as LA, Mexico and France, and this year is likely to feature similarly exotic locations. A show source said: “ Cowell wants to increase the drama and tension of the moment contestants are told they’ve got through”.

After 11 years, Louis Walsh is leaving The X Factor to join another talent show, according to reports. As part of a big shake-up planned by Simon Cowell the 62-year-old will no longer be a judge on the ITV programme after almost 11 years. It’s thought TV bosses are bringing in new faces to freshen up The X Factor panel. A spokesperson for The X Factor told Newsbeat: “No formal decisions have been made regarding the full panel for this year’s series.”

Mel B will not be spicing up The X Factor this year and has been axed from the judging panel by Simon Cowell . The 39-year-old was never far from controversy on the 2014 series and famously missed the first night of the final weekend with a mystery illness. Despite being widely praised for her no nonsense attitude and comments on the show, bosses have now decided Spice Girl Mel will be replaced as they try to remodel the singing talent show to try to take on Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings. A show source said: “It is now looking very, very doubtful she will come back, Simon has made up his mind.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is reported to have inked a whopping £2 million deal to return to The X Factor this autumn. The pop star and TV personality is claimed by The Sun to have secured a £500k pay rise thanks to show boss Simon Cowell’s enthusiasm to have her serve another year on the judging panel. A source told the tabloid: “Cheryl knew she was in an incredibly strong position because Simon was desperate to get her back.

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack have been confirmed as the new presenters of The X Factor. They are the first duo to host the Saturday night show; they replace Dermot O’Leary who announced he was leaving last month after eight years. The pair previously co-hosted the spin-off show The Xtra Factor on ITV2 for two years from 2011.

Speculation about the make-up of this year’s X Factor judging panel has solidified with Simon Cowell declaring that he and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will definitely be back. The reality TV mogul was asked by The Sun which judges would be returning and replied: “Cheryl and me are fine.” And he paid tribute to Dermot O’Leary, who recently quit as host on the show after eight years – amid rumours that he was going to be axed anyway. SiCo said: “He’ll always get work, he’s a very talented guy and we’ll do other stuff together.”

Louis Walsh says he may not be returning to X Factor this year. Speaking on Irish TV he says: “I think I’m done with X Factor. I’ve done 11 seasons. “That’s a long time on television. I think they’re going to change the show. I think they’re going to get new faces.”

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s future on the panel of The X Factor is safe for another year, it has been reported. The Sun reckons that show supremo Simon Cowell wants Chezza to stay on “at all costs”, but Louis Walsh and Mel B are both claimed to be at risk of the axe. “They haven’t signed a deal yet but Simon, Cheryl and ITV are all on the same page,” a mole told the tabloid. “But that’s really bad news for Mel. She had a good first year but bosses want a new line-up.” There is a suggestion that Tulisa Contostavlos could be returning to the panel after impressing SiCo with the way she handled her time in the showbiz wilderness last year. And in other X Factor news, Olly Murs has declared that he will only consider replacing his pal Dermot O’Leary on hosting duties if Caroline Flack is beside him.

Dermot O’Leary has announced that he is quitting The X Factor, after eight years presenting the popular ITV talent show. And The Sun reports that Simon Cowell has already recruited Olly Murs and Caroline Flack to take over hosting duties from the veteran presenter. And The Mirror quoted a source as saying: “Dermot has known for a while that his card was marked and show bosses had said they were going to be changing the format and looking for different talent. “He decided to walk before they could officially axe him. Olly is the hot favourite to replace him, nothing has been signed yet but he is the man Simon wants.”

The X Factor 2015 is set to ditch some of its Saturday night shows due to the Rugby World Cup. The Rugby World Cup is being hosted by England this autumn between September and October and will air on ITV. A number of the 48 matches in the tournament are scheduled on Saturday nights from 4:45PM and 8PM, forcing X Factor to move from its usual primetime slot. It was reported last year that ITV were considering their options when it came to the clashes and now it’s being suggested that X Factor will move. The Sun newspaper reports that X Factor bosses are set to use the schedule change to try and refresh the show with five weeks of ‘extended’ Sunday episodes.

Strictly Come Dancing might have regularly triumphed over The X Factor in the Saturday night TV ratings – but the ITV show got its own back when it came to the National Television Awards. That’s because Simon Cowell and co triumphed over their BBC One rivals to take the final award of the night – the prize for best TV talent show – at the star-studded ceremony. The show also fought off competition from The Voice UK and Britain’s Got Talent – with a clearly delighted Simon Cowell joining fellow judge Mel B on stage to collect the prize.
