Muse opened this year’s Brit Awards, accompanied by a live orchestra, with a pyrotechnic-tastic set. James Corden then took to the stage in his hat-rick year of presenting the event. Then to the first award presentation for Best British Female Solo, the award was presented by Taylor Swift and the winner was Emeli Sande.
Former multi-Brit winning, Robbie Williams was next to perform and worked the audience well with his hit Candy. The next award was for British Group and was presented by Simon Pegg and Berenice Marlohe, The winner was Mumford And Sons. The next award was British Breakthrough and was presented by Nick Grimshaw, the winner was Ben Howard who gave a very nervous speech.
Justin Timberlake was next on stage and performed his new single Mirrors. The next award was for British Male Solo Artist and was presented by Ed Sheeran, the winner was Ben Howard. Collecting his second award of the night he described the feat as “bizarre”. Next James spoke with Tom O’Dell who picked up The Critics’ Choice Award this year.

Next on stage was Taylor Swift who performed I Knew You Were Trouble. The next award was for International Group and was presented by Dave Grohl, the winner was The Black Keys who were not present to collect their award.
Next on stage was double Brit award winning Ben Howard who sang his hit Only Love. The next award was for International Male Solo and was presented by Jourdan Dunn and Ralf Spall, the winner was Frank Ocean. Next was the first Special Recognition Award which this year is WarChild.
Mumford And Sons took to the stage next and performed I Will Wait. Then it was the big one, the reveal of The Best British Album, presented by Brian Ferry. The winner was Emeli Sande with Our Version Of Events. She thanked everyone for letting her make the album she wanted to make. Next was the new Global Success Award which was presented by Robbie Williams, One Direction were the winners. Emeli Sande closed the show and performed her latest single Clown together with Next To Me.

Emeli Sande will be closing tonight’s Brits. Having performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, plus Sports Personality Of The Year, Brits bosses have left the job in her capable hands. But closing tonight’s bash is the perfect swan song for Emeli. She’ll be taking a six-month break away from the spotlight as soon as the credits roll. Muse will open the show and Robbie Williams, Mumford And Sons, Ben Howard and One Direction are other acts flying the flag for the UK. Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift will add US glamour.

Beyonce will perform at the Brit Awards this year. The former Destiny’s Child star will join Muse, Mumford And Sons and One Direction on the line up of performers as she returns to the music scene with the follow-up to her 2011 album, ‘4’. Beyonce coming to the Brits is a huge coup for organisers. She’s among the best live pop acts on the planet and will have brand new material to play for the audience,” an unnamed source told The Sun. “The last time she played the Brits, nine years ago, was at the start of her solo career, singing ‘Crazy In Love’.
